Almost 20% of organizations moved in the
past five years. Of these, more than half
reported that their space needs had increased
and only 7% had reduced needs. Of the organ-izations
that moved, 42% moved because the
cost of space was too high, including 15% that
lost their lease. The arts organizations were
especially hard hit. More than 58% moved
because the cost of space was too high, includ-ing
27% that lost their lease. Another 20% indicated that they considered moving in the past two years, and 26% report-ed that they lacked adequate space but were unlikely to move. Overall, 50% felt that they had adequate space. |
