Recruiting and retaining both management
and support staff have become major prob-lems
for New York City's nonprofits. Sixty-eight
percent reported greater difficulty in
recruiting and 58% in retaining management
and professional staff over the past few years.
The corresponding figures for clerical and
support staff were 68% and 56%, respectively.
86% of nonprofits reported greater difficulty
in the past several years in providing compet-itive
salaries to management and professional
employees, and 76% had similar difficulties
for clerical and support personnel. Sixty-three
percent experienced difficulty with providing
competitive benefits for management staff,
and 57% reported difficulty with competitive
benefits for clerical and support staff.
The greatest difficulty in recruiting and retain-ing
employees was experienced in the health
sector and in the largest organizations gener-ally,
but the issue of providing competitive
salaries and benefits was fairly uniform for
both management and support staff across all
sectors and scales of operation. |
